Most everyone knows that I live under a rock when it comes to cultural references. ("He was the guy who bit that other guy's ear off, right?" "No. That was basketball 1n 1995.") All that to say, this is the first time that I have heard of Tegan and Sara, but I am so thankful for the exposure.
The song definitely works as club tune--I felt the urge to jump up and down and shake my head--but, the acoustic version feels more honest. The rawness of their voice is so good ("I feel it in my bones..." I love how they say "bones" by particularly enunciating the "b" and roundness of the "o"--so beautiful; you just don't hear that in the other version.) Plus, the harmonies are stronger; instead of shaking my head with this version I want to sing along and feel the ache in my bones. It's just more poetic.
